About L'Ecurie Holiday Cottage
A comfortable, spacious French cottage with everything you need for a relaxing family holiday – from your own private terrace and BBQ to a shared heated pool, huge games room and beautiful countryside views.
L’Ecurie is a welcoming two-bedroom, 4-star holiday cottage, sleeping 4–5 guests. Set within our peaceful village home in Lairoux, it combines traditional French character with the comforts you want from a modern holiday home.
All on one level, it’s particularly popular with families with younger children and older guests. There are no stairs to negotiate, while the spacious layout gives everyone plenty of room to relax.
Inside you'll find:
- Two comfortable bedrooms sleeping 4–5 guests
- Master bedroom with a 160 x 200cm king-size bed, additional single bed and space for a cot
- Twin bedroom with two single beds
- Spacious bathroom with a large 160cm walk-in shower
- Comfortable sitting room with exposed beams and original stonework
- Large leather sofa and armchair
- Wood-burning stove, with an initial supply of logs provided
- 40" Smart TV with UK and French channels, DVD player and CD/USB player
- Fast fibre Wi-Fi throughout the cottage
- Well-equipped kitchen with dishwasher, washing machine, fridge/freezer, oven, gas hob and microwave
- Dining table seating up to six
- Family equipment including highchair, booster seat and cot
Outside, you have your own private space to enjoy:
- Private patio and terrace with dining furniture for six
- Wooden pergola providing shade on sunny afternoons
- Charcoal BBQ – perfect for relaxed family meals
- Views across the garden and surrounding countryside
- Large shared garden
- 12m x 7m heated swimming pool, open from May to the end of September
- Huge shared games room with toys and games for children and adults
The location is another big part of the appeal. The sandy Atlantic beaches of the Vendée are around 15 minutes away, while the Marais Poitevin, local markets, pretty villages, walking and cycling routes are all within easy reach.
Dogs are welcome too, and we provide a few thoughtful extras for four-legged guests.
And because we live on site, we're always nearby if you need local recommendations or a little help during your stay – from finding a good restaurant to choosing which beach to visit. Otherwise, you can simply settle in, switch off and enjoy your holiday at your own pace.
This cottage can also be rented alongside Le Vieux Café (3 bedrooms) for extended family holidays.

Our 7th stay in L’Ecurie, which pretty much says it all. Everything we need in the gîte plus fantastic setting from the outside table to watch the wildlife and the sunsets.
We enjoyed re-visiting the Pointe D’Arcay and the Pointe d’Aiguillon for the birds and butterflies, plus markets in Luçon and Fontenay-le-Comte.

Zoe enjoyed a ride out at Marais du Plessis stables.
As well as several lovely sunsets here, we also visited La Tranche sur Mer for dinner followed by a sunset walk on the beach.

Fantastic days-it at Puy du Fou & visiting the Ile de Ré where we easily hired bikes & used the map they gave us to tour around the island.
Loads of baguette picnics - highly recommend the baguette machine in the village - surprisingly good! Also the best boulangerie - L'Escale Gourmande - near Luçon.
Of course plenty of hours spent in the pool, the games room and on the terrace.

We felt very much at home here and we liked playing pool/snooker a lot. I remembered a lot of the house and how much I enjoyed my stay last time.
Fleur hasn’t changed and she is still as cute as ever!
I loved the swimming pool, especially at night with the lights on !
There were some rainy days, but we were lucky with some sunshine. The gym was upgraded since our last stay, so it was very cool.
We all enjoyed the grapes and tomatoes that are grown here too.
We had no regrets returning and think the newbies – Rasa and Drama – would like to come again! I hope we can come again one day but for longer because this place is so nice and I don’t want this holiday to end.
