la Petite Recepte

La Petite Recepte is a charming cottage nestled in the grounds of Chateau de la Recepte, a sixteenth century chateau in Vouvant, voted as one of the most beautiful villages in France. It has a large brand-new heated swimming pool in your own private garden.

Everything you need is on your doorstep; a bakery for your baguette, a village grocery shop, a pharmacy, and three bars/restaurants for a mid morning coffee or an evening apero before a dinner with friends or the family.

The space
La Petite Recepte has been fully renovated and comprises three double bedrooms, two with king-sized beds and one with twin beds that can be joined to form a super-king. Two additional children's cots are available on request. There is a newly fitted kitchen, a sitting room with a smart TV, a dining room and a swimming pool (4.7m x 3.7m) which will be ready to welcome our first guests at the beginning of April 2026 and will be for your exclusive use. The pool has an L-shaped deck benefitting from day-long sunshine and is situated in your own walled garden which is separate from the Chateau ensuring your privacy.

The kitchen has French doors opening onto a sun-drenched terrace which is perfect for that morning coffee and croissant, an al fresco lunch or evening barbeque. Relax and take in the superb view of the medieval Tour Melusine, at which King John the First of England once stayed.

Please note that the pool area is separated from the outside terrace area and the private drive by two self-closing gates, thus ensuring young children cannot have access unless supervised by an adult.

Guest access
The entire property is available to use. It has its own gated entrance and driveway which can accommodate up to three cars. You will not have access to the grounds of the chateau within which the property is found as Rupert and Juliette live in the chateau but they will be happy to give you a guided tour.

Unlike many villages in France, Vouvant is active and full of energy. Many music, art and plant festivals are held each year at the Place du Bail in the heart of the village and you may be lucky enough to time your visit with the concert and balls that are also held there, or you can decide to stay within the tranquil surrounds of La Petite Recepte.

If you enjoy walking or cycling you will not be disappointed. The vast Mervent oak
forest is a few minutes away and the countryside is criss-crossed with well sign-posted walks and cycle paths.
